What is your shipping policy?

I am happy to ship to anywhere in the world. All packages are shipped via USPS. Shipping rates will be calculated at checkout. If you have any specific questions regarding shipping, or alternate shipping methods, please contact me at info@spindlecraft.com.

I have this beautiful pen. How do I keep it that way?

Pens are typically pretty durable, but in order to ensure that your pen lasts a lifetime, heed the following tips:

  1. Try to avoid extreme temperatures. Extreme heat and extreme cold can cause the wood and/or the finish to split, chip and crack.
  2. Try to avoid dropping it from any height onto a hard surface.
  3. Use with it regularly to prevent the ink from drying out.
  4. If it gets wet, wipe it down as quickly as possible. Long term exposure to moisture may result in damages to the finish and possibly to the wood.
  5. Avoid letting the pen sit in direct sunlight, as it may cause materials to become brittle, or washed out.
  6. Consider a pen stand, case, or holder for when the pen is not in use. I have a variety of options available here.
How do I care for my razor/shave set?
  1. While razors and shave brushes are meant to be water resistant, it is not recommended that you let your razor or shave brush sit in water for an extended period of time, or to sit with water droplets still on it. This is particularly true if the handle is made of wood. Water will not affect the handle of non-wooden products, but it may cause unsightly water marks on the metal hardware. I recommended that after each use, you wipe your razor and brush down with a dry rag to remove any water droplets and shaving cream / soap residue. Pay special attention to the inner crevices and seams and those are the easiest places for water to settle into, or soap-residue to accumulate.
  2. For shave brushes, When you are finished using your brush, be sure to rinse the bristles thoroughly to rid them of any shaving cream or soap suds. Once all residue has been removed, ring the bristles out, and hang the brush with the bristles pointing downward.
  3. While all of this care may seem excessive and time-consuming, I firmly believe that we should handle our all of our possessions with care. You work too hard for the money that you earn to buy stuff with - therefore, you should treat even the smallest of your possessions with reverie. My pen is out of ink. Can I get a refill?

Absolutely. Refills are available for all of the pens that I sell. You can order refills here. If you are not sure what type of refill you require, e-mail me a photo of your pen, and I will be able to point you in the right direction. If you don't want to purchase a refill online, refills can be purchased for most of the pens that I sell at most office supplies stores.

What is your return policy?

You can return or exchange any unused or defective merchandise by mail. Returns made within 30 days of the order shipment date will be refunded to the original form of payment.

A product that I loved is sold out. Can you make another?

The products that I make typically use materials that are readily available, and so I can almost always replicate any previously made works pretty easily. With that said, occassionally I will come across a piece of rare wood that makes a beatiful product, but is not easy to find more wood like it. In these instances, I will very specifically denote in the product description that it is a project that cannot be replicated.

Are the products for sale on your site available immediately?

Yes, all products that are not sold out are available for immediate shipment.

How long to custom orders take to arrive?

This can depend on a variety of factors. The type of material that is required, how long materials take to arrive, current workload, and the time of the year (Christmas time might be slower than the rest of the year.)

Do you use your own products?

I actually do. I care deeply about the quality of my products, so if I can't produce something that I myself wouldn't use, then I won't sell it in my shop. In fact, with any new product that I offer, there is typically a 6-12 month waiting period before it becomes available for purchase. This is so I can ensure the longevity of the product, and make sure that once it ships out, that it wont fall apart after a small amount of use. Case-in-point: I held off on selling any of my razors for well over a year, because I discovered that when exposed to water, the finish that I was using wasn't holding up. I have completely reworked my finishing process after discovering this, to ensure that any product I ship out will stand the test of time. So long story short, I shave with my own razors, I write with my own pens, and I actively look for opportunities to create my own products to meet my own needs.

Can you repurpose this wood I have into something else?

One of my favorite things to do as a craftsman is to give new life to things that previously had sentimental value. Whether it is a piece of wood from a building that was torn down, or a branch from the tree you used to play on as a child - I am all for creating products that have special meaning to its owner.
